The Langham Hotel, Chicago
With this project, a total of 240 wheelcut glass
panels were produced for the 8 elevator cabs
in the lobby of the Langham Hotel, formerly
the old Chicago Grand Hotel designed by renowned
architect Mies van der Rohe.
In each cab, there are 30 panels bordering
the three interior walls. All have been cut,
polished and silver leafed, also known as water gilding.
The work was commissioned by
Kafka Manufacturing Company of Chicago.
